Siemens Industry Automation Division: Wide range despite ultra-compact design
The Siemens Industry Automation Division has expanded the small and compact Simatic RF200 series of its radio frequency identification (RFID) reading devices to include the new Simatic RF240R reader. The RF240R can be easily integrated into automation environments using the TIA portal, and comes with a wide variety of connection options.
What is special about this reader, with its compact 50 x 50 x 30 mm dimensions (L/W/H), is its exceptional ratio of size to operating range. Capable of reading at distances of up to 65 millimeters, the Simatic RF240R is ideally suited for universal applications in assembly lines. Its durable design complying to protection rating IP67 makes it the perfect solution for harsh industrial environments. Simatic RF240R is available in an RS422 and an RS232 interface version. The three-color diagnostic LED allows simple reader installation and operation. Like all the readers of the Simatic RF200 series, the RF240R uses tried and trusted Moby D-type ISO 15693-compliant transponders.
